Wonder if anyone can help?
Have fished the East coast since a kid usually Filey Brigg and Scarborough but due to work not as often as I wanted. However last year had a crack at Mappleton and caught a bass and was bitten by the bug again.
Have a couple of mates who are coarse fishermen who are also getting more and more interested.
Can anyone help with locations for decent fishing this time of year, would love to catch another bass, but a day out and a few bites from anything would be welcome.( had a couple of blanks with so called mates and havent heard the last of it!)
Have a notion to fish one rod at distance and another in close from the beach, or one big rod out and spinning or float fishing from rocks.
Would really appreciate any advice with location, tackle, rigs or bait.
cheers Charlie

Most places south of Brid should meet your requirements. Just make sure that you don't go withing about 10 miles of Spurn Point during a big tide or you will have problems with lots of weed. Peeler crab is a top bait but hard to get hold of. If you can't get it use lug, rag and sandeel. The tactic of using one rod at distance and one close in is the standard thing I do. Usually I get more fish close in but the better ones at distance, but last weekend at Hornsea the fish were all taking the bait at distance. For rigs try a clipped 2 hook flapper with 1/0 or 2/0 hooks and a 1 up 1 down flapper close in with size 2 hooks. Some examples here: www.photorecce.co.uk/rigs.html
