Have just stripped my 535 Mag for cleaning.
When I looked at the magnetic controls on the end plate I was happy with the simple way that it worked, with the screw taking the magnet closer or further away from the spool.
Fairly straight forward so far!
However I was expecting there to be some sort of metal plate for the magnet to act on fitted to the spool or spindle in order for it to control the speed of the reel.
Questions.... Should there be a metal plate or some other fitting? I cannot see how in its current state the magnet offers any form of control (as the brake blocks and rods have been removed in order to fit it). Am I thinking to hard about this or is there a way that the magnets work that I have not thought of? Currently I cannot see how it works at all as the magnet moves closer and further away from an aluminium spool.
Would really appreciate any help on this.
PS am also looking to do a spot of fishing over Christmas leave. Either on the holderness coast or a bit further North from rock marks Filey way. Does anyone have any recent catch reports or possible venues?
Cheers Charlie
